Full name: Dan Vardi, MD
Director of the Sleep and Insomnia Center of Venice, a place that I consider work but also a passion and a hobby.
Born in Israel to parents from Romania and Checoslovakia I started my first medical work as a military paramedic in the IDF.
After spending 2 years in the universities of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem studding biology I started medical school at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” graduating with honors in 1983.
I trained in Cabrini Medical Center in NYC as a medical resident for 3 years and certified in Internal Medicine.
A year of Critical Care fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer in NYC led later to a 2 years fellowship in Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine at Winthrop University Hospital affiliated with SUNY at Stoney Brook.
I later certified in Pulmonary disease, Critical Care and finely in Sleep Medicine.
In 1991 I moved to Venice, Florida and started to practice sleep medicine; It was a new field and the awareness of the public and the physicians was virtually non existing. Since than I devote a lot of time and efforts to educate the community and the medical professionals regarding sleep apnea, dangers of daytime sleepiness and many other sleep related problems.
After becoming a Fellow of The American Academy of Sleep Medicine I Joined the National Sleep Foundation and became a Community Awareness Sponsor.
I am the Medical Director of Venice Regional Medical Center Sleep Lab and consultant in the sleep field in and out of the hospital.
